Hi, Wondering if anyone has a picture of a "Stock" 1936 plymouth coupe steering box?My son and I have just purchased one of these cars and are currently looking for all info on this model we can find. The previous owner installed a SBC and moved the steering box to the top of the frame I imagine to make room for the engine and exhaust manifold. It has the original frame; so parallel leaf springs in the front and what I guess is a "drag link" type steering setup. Any help would be appreciated. We have looked at a lot of available kits but all require cross link steering and or weld on IFS. As you can imagine we are on a budget or would just go with the Fatman kit. Anyhow this is our first post, we appreciate any insight or help or fingers pointing us in the right direction. Thanks in advance, Elliott
I may have what you need but can't figure out how to give you my contact info. I have a 36 - 5 window and the original owner's manual, which is more like a service manual, that I picked up at Carlisle.
Just post pics here I will check back time to time thanks.
The pics I have are from the owners manual there are too many to copy. I am not that computer savvy. a manual steering box from an a body early van works and has the right geometry. the column is also a good fit. I left my steering in tact like yours with leafs and drag link. it is fairly tight with all new parts but still point and go. i will see if I can get one of the kidsto post some pics. BTW I am not selling anything or trying to collect info. i thought we might be able to share some build info. these things are hard to find.
