Air Conditioning

I read your excellent article (Old and Cold)and agree with it totally, but would like to offer a whole lot cheaper and simpler solution that is totally compatable with all of the original a/c equipment.
R414a,it is a"drop-in replacement" for r-12 or 134a.You simply reduce the charge by 20%.It will produce a much colder evaporator temperature than 134 or 12.
 I have "converted" several cars over to 414 with no problems.
However, if the system has been open for any lenght of time, i would definately reccomend replacing the drier.
