i just bought this car it has the original engine in it it runs but the car looks like hell a north eastern car with otns of rust i want to start with the engine and transmission any suggestions on what size engine will fit in ti and the transmission combo that will work with it  im a bonafide rookie this is my first car of this type and coming in on the ground level any suggestions will be greatly appreciated i defintely want to go V8 just not sure which 1.

Get yourself some catalogs from Speedway,Jamco or one of the other advertisers and decide what fits in your budget. Seeing that you have an enclosed driveline you could use a low hp small block Chevy or hop up the 6! Anything more than that you will have to change the transmission and rear end. The body can always be repaired, just don't get overwhelmed by the mechanicals and lose interest.
