Who makes custom glass for chopped cars and trucks? I am thinking of chopping a 77 Luv for practice but don't know where to get the glass. Does any one make custom tempered glass or should I use Lexan or something similar? Thanks for any and all help.

You need to find a really good glass man or be prepared to buy some windhields. You have to score one side (saftey glass is 2 pieces sandwiched with a plastic sheet) and crack it then using a razor blade or lighter fluid seperate the plastic. Sound simple? I broke 9 pieces before I got one right for my '45 and it's flat glass. I've heared of people using a rubber mat to cover what you want to keep and using a sandblaster to remove the unwanted glass.

Door glass, not the windshield. The tempered glass is the problem, not the safty glass.

Still need to find a good glass man, but now you can go to any glass shop, not just an automotive shop, most good ones can cut tempered glass, you'll need exact measurements or a hardboard template for a pattern.

New tempered custom sideglass can be made by a company such as Metalcrafters in Fountain Valley CA Phone (714) 444-2000 http://www.metalcrafters.com/premierglass/premierglass.html

It's only metal, It does not know if it is on a 50 Merc, or on a Lambo. Make it do what you want.

Try Steave at S.T.D. Glass (541-267-5452)if you can't find a local shop, he does mail orders. He did the glass in my '45, including v-butt winshield and the glass for my brothers '29 PU.
