The Duecenberg V8 wins the Ridler award and is another car that will probably never be driven. The positive effect is this type of car promotes the rat rod/low cost movement. There are enough home builders that don't need to buy a trophy or need their ego's massaged that will be inspired to do it for the fun of it. Hopefully when the articles are printed there will be some ideas the home builder can use outside of all the custom coachwork and one off billet items. I appreciate the workmanship and the design factors, but I miss the times when even the winners of the Oakland Roadster show were owner built and driven cars, ie.Richard Gausco, Blackie Gejeian,(excuse the spellink).

Well said, Jalopy45. For most of us, the old car hobby is just for fun, with a whole bunch of dedication, tradition, and passion thrown in the mix. The fellowship with the many friends I've made, over the many years of my love affair with old cars, is worth more to me than trophys won by out spending the other guys. Like you, I appreciate the high buck stuff, for what it is, but if I was bucks up, I would just build a little nicer driver.

The B-400 was beautiful up close and I can't fault the workmanship. The days of a driver winning any of the big awards is over. They say that after showing the B-400 a couple more times they plan to start driving it and I hope they do.
