My wife wants an old car vs a new car......

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think I've lost my mind.
Went to look at new cars today as my wife's car is getting tired and then she tells me that she wants an older car fixed up .
(she supports almost 40 vehicles in inventory) I know true love
She then proceeds to pick out a 56 Buick wagon that I have and tells me to fix it instead of a new car.
Then she explains to me that we can put the monthly pament into it and improve its " comforts/ conveniences" etc
Did someone slip something in my drink today or am I a lucky MoFo??
Never mind, Don't answer that...
My mind is spinning out of bounds, got to strike while the iron is hot.
Its a big project but I have a 69 electra 225 runner that could be the mechanical donor. !?
What advice (opinion) do you have...?

It's only metal, It does not know if it is on a 50 Merc, or on a Lambo. Make it do what you want.

Customike, I have been married to a lady with the same attitude for 35 years. All I can say, from my experience, is love and protect her as best you can. Seems like the ladies who support you and your hobby may be few.

My wife (who I call my Custom) is the gal sitting on the back of our Model A, in her Rod and Custom T-shirt, reading Rod and Custom magazine, and smiling. It don't get much better than that. She drives a 1988 Chrysler New Yorker with a 360 roller cam engine with Edelbrock manifold and carb, electronic ignition, no smog controls, and a total of 230,000 miles, and loves it. I built the engine at 145,000, the new one has twice the power and even gets better mileage than the old "lean burn" 318. Yeah, I'm going to keep both her and the Chrysler.

You both are very lucky guys.
Here's an update.
I want to thank all of you for your advice. solid points, direction and relationship advice
Needless to say this thread lifted my better half's spirit when it comes to our great hobby and she's actually more engaged than ever right now
We've had some planning/ sizing/ time and cost factor discussions and taking another look at what we have and what can get done the easiest (I would like to actually be able to finish it before she looses interest).
She's also been driving a smaller economical car for a while so we also looked this and what will be the best for her to drive daily.
I threw out the Phantom MiniMerc Wagon project and she actually bit on it and admitted that it sounded "neater" and less intimidating than the "bigger Buick Wagon"
I'll post more as we go forward with the execution of the new MiniMerc Wagon.
The kicker here is that the original MiniMerc was started as a "grocery getter beater project" for my "second wife" while I finished my 62 Cad chop top convertible project.
Needless to say the first MiniMerc project got out of hand somehow...
I guess that the Caddy will have to wait yet again...
Thanks again to all of you for the inspiration.
