I just would like to publicly thank Intagas/5wCoupe for pointing out this ad, I had not noticed it when I read thru my April issue. I would also like to publicly thank the Extenze Co for advertizeing with R&C, who knows some day I may need their fine product and give it a try. Again thanks so much Intagas/5wCoupe for guideing me to this product.

I wouldn't care either except for the fact that my teenage daughter likes cars and reads my magazines. And I'd rather not have to explain ads that might be better placed in a more adult oriented mag. Remember, if we don't attract the younger generations, the hobby and the magazine will eventually die out with us. Just my narrow minded opinion. Tim

I agree it is not appropriate for younger readers. I personally would simply remove that page if I was concerned about a child seeing it. Last night while I watched TV I saw ads of this type 4 times starting as early as 7pm, I think there here to stay. I personally don't care for this type of ad myself but I am realistic enough to realize there part of doing business. I would rather have the magazine with the ad then no magazine at all. Mike

Hey, REDCLAYHD if your teen watches MTV or about anything directed at her age group, I guarantee she has seen MUCH WORSE.

May we consider this to be an apology for the silly comments you made in your last post? After reading what you wrote, I spent a few minutes online researching this stuff. I hope you were just kidding, Mike, because I certainly do not want to be responsible for "guideing" you to use this junk. vertible59 may have thought of the best use for Extenze, however he is too late. The Orange County District Attorney’s Office Fined the manufacturer of this poisonous placebo $300,000 for, among other things, the high levels of lead it contained. That Galaxie will need to have hardened valve seats installed because the pills that are being pushed now by Dr. Scam . . . oops, I mean, Dr. Stein . . . are a new Low-Lead formula! That fine was but a pittance and a hand-slap to the so called Doctor. It merely served to help him hone his ability to advertise in a manner that protects him from any claim of liability. The ad in Rod and Custom works simply by power of suggestion and yet includes nothing that can be disproved. By the way, Biotab Nutraceuticals is at least the third company that employed this quack for product endorsement (although I suspect he is involved more intimately than he would like us to believe). It seems he also pedals a non-prescription “slumber enhancement” product. He was also active with another product similar to ExtenZe that was sold under the name Alzare. It is no longer available for sale. I know your thoughts on “all the “whiney crap that goes on today” by the "PERPETUALLY OFFENDED", so I wont suggest that you check this for yourself, but there are several online forums with dozens and dozens of posts by folks claiming that they are being ripped-off by this company in the form of automatic shipments and the credit card billing that follows. Some of the whiners complain that the shipments also include pornographic movies that they did not order but are charged extra for. Big deal, right? So what, right?!? Are you telling us to just turn away from these “objectionable” ads because they are necessary for the continuing success of Rod and Custom? Are you trying to tell me that Rod and Custom will go away if they fail to advertise for this swindler? I hope your comments in defense of this “fine product” were made because you lacked this information. I would like to think that the Advertising Department made an honest mistake by not checking into this shyster before running his ad. Exposing Rod and Custom readers to a disreputable business serves no worthy purpose and it results in defiling the reputation of the magazine.

I think about the only place where the world is safe from Male Enhancement ads is the church bulletin. They are in my daily newspaper, they are on billboards, they are everywhere. So, you just ignore them. If you want to deal with real issues, start writing your Congre$$$$men.

5wCoupe/intagas or who ever you are, no it is NOT an apology. If you were able to comprehend the English language you would realize that it is simply a way to deal with the ad if its objectionable.. Congrats on the nice rambling manifesto.

I know exactly what you’re talking about Tim. My seven-year old son is a real gearhead and loves to check the mail box after school so he can be the first to get the new mags. He usually starts to thumb through them on his way to the house. One of his favorite things is to check each page so he can compare what car he likes to what car I like . . . a good way for him to learn about the modifications we can make on his old pick-up. You should have a look at the April issue of Street Rodder. My son and I read it from cover to cover and he was able to list it on his homework reading log. Street Rodder is full of great stuff (like the tech article on body & paint work. Perfect info for his truck!), and NO “male enhancement” ads. I hope they keep up the good work . . . my Street Rodder subscription runs through March 2011. Anyway, Tim, I commend you for caring about family values and your desire to instill in your daughter a love for old cars! You are right that it’s today’s kids that will keep the hobby and associated businesses going.

For crying out loud, read the magazine, if you don't like the ads don't read them or rip them out if your kid reads the mag. The anal retentive thing is getting a bit much.

For crying out loud, read the magazine, if you don't like the replies here, don't read them or read a different thread!
