I have a 29 mod A pu would like to keep stock look but change trans and rear end  keep it ford was wondering about the ford ranger {rear} later mustang 80s  or what ever  thank

In order to keep a real "stock" appearance you would need to stay with a banjo style rear, seeing as how they are visible with a PU. You did not indicate if you still have mechanical or hydraulic brakes which would also effect the decision. I believe there are kits on the market for using a T5 trans behind a stock 4 banger which would give you an overdrive 5th gear. What are you looking for with your intended mods? Mike

Do you want to do a V8 or V 6 conversion?. more power? better brakes?. I have a ford 9 inch with a dummy quick change cover modified to fit to some brackets welded to the later rear end.
