Here's the layout:
1953 Buick Special 2 door sedan
350 tbi SBC from a 91 Suburban
TH-350 tranny, 1:1 final drive ratio

This car will be a driver, to and from work, cruising, trips, etc. I am using the parts I have on hand so the engine and tranny listed are going in.
I need to know what rpm my engine is going to run most comfortably at an average of about 65. I'm trying to pick a rear end to put under it and I have several options, the big hold up is what gear ratio to run. If any of you folks have suggestions I would very much appreciate you imparting said wisdom, if you would be so kind!
Thanks all,
R/T

R/T use this calculator to figure what rear gears you might use.
http://www.f-body.org/gears/
You'll need to put in a tire size or diameter you're planning on running on the buick,
make up a axle ratio,
Red line,
And put 1.0 in on 3rd gear column.
Now play around with different ratios and different wheel diameters until you find what appeals to you best.

If the engine is  going to be stock right out of the Suburban I'd guess it would like to run around 2200-2300 rpm @70 mph.... but that's just a guess on my part.

Hope this helps you more that confuses you, I'm not very good with instructions

Thanks Richard, I believe the 25-2700 rpm is the number I was missing in the equation. that should help me tremendously.
Just an FYI, the F-body site was hit with malicious software a couple weeks ago. they are clean but google/firefox won't let you do anything there. For those who may need a gearing calculator until they are fully operational again I recommend

Thanks a million. I'll let you guys know how my build comes together!
