I'm in the process of rebuilding my 62 Nova with the 6cyl 194ci. engine. I want to change the generator to an alternator. I've searched the internet and have gotten 3 or 4 different approaches. Now I'm confused. If I switch to a 1 wire alternator, do I still have to have the gen/alt idiot light wired in? What do I do with the 3 wires attached to the generator now? Do I need a new voltage regulator? Helpppp!!!!!

Google Delco 10si and you will get all you need to know to do your conversion. You do not reuse your old regulator. I have my "idiot light" wired up to work, but its optional. All thou these are refered to as 1 wire they are actually 3 wire alternators. I have used them with just one wire hooked up but do not recommend doing it that way. Mike
