Building a 38 chevy pu with a 350 and I don't have my cab back yet. I am assuming I will not have to modify firewall since it already has a recess for the HEI. Can I use a long water pump and brackets and still have room for electric radiator fan inside the grille shroud. I know hundreds of guys have done these cars/trucks and would like to finish my motor prior to installing into chassis. I plan on using grove steel high brackets.
thanks for the help Larry

Most of the after market brackets mount to the heads or the water pump. The water pump you use will depend on which belt-turned units you will run, and the vintage of heads. I'd look around at the bracket industry and maybe that will help you decide. In my '38 Chevy sedan, I'm running a '62 283 with a short pump. The brackets I'm using will bolt to, and were designed for, a short pump because there isn't any place on the heads to bolt them to.
