Just finished looking through some late 60's and early 70's R&Cs' and remembered how many rods were powered by 4 bangers and sixes. Even looked at the XR-6 and Volks-rod articles and figure these cars could be built again with more modern engines and powertrains and great MPG's. Have the editors given any thought to a buildup without the blown big-block and maybe a turboed Ecotec 4 or?

I am looking into this and feel it's going to be a more popular idea as gas continues to go up. The 4-cylinders today are a lot different than when people were doing these swaps during the 70's. 200-300hp is not uncommon.

I could definetly see this being a growing trend, the Ecotec motor can definetly put out some good power, about 260 h.p. and 260 TQ. Those are better numbers then some factory V8's put out. One of the main problems I would see is these are designed as FWD motors, and I'm not sure how easy it is to convert to RWD.

Already did it, if I could figure out to post a picture, it's a simple adaptor plate.
