So, some of you might have a killer Stereo in your car and I was wondering ... What music do you listen to while cruising? (besides the music coming from under the hood   )

Most of the time I'm listening to exhaust leaks and noisy lifters.

Yeah, I used to have a dodge pickup, and people would ask me if I had put a custom exhasut on, but it was really just the enoumous exhaust leak I had.

The other day I heard Barry Manilow blasting out of some guy's trendy little import while I was waiting for the light to change...  Does that count?

Interesting John, I don't usually associate trendy imports with Barry Manilow, what has this world come to?

Cruisin' in my 56 Customline Vicky, I'm tuned in to the 50's on 5 on my XM - when the twin smitties don't drown it out.

Not sure just what I'm listening to. Sounds like a tin can full of gravel being crushed by a hydraulic press, with every wheel revolution (at the left front). Then again, I haven't seen the neighbors cat lately. Does this sound like something I should check into?

Exclusively oldies...   like blues ( John Lee Hooker, Elmore James, Cream, and contemporaries like Stevie Ray Vaughan )...  then good ol' street-corner Doo *** circa 1950's & early 60's.  I'm a blues & Doo *** DJ at "Rock-it Radio" ( www.rockitradio.net ) on our internet broadcast. Just click to the site...  then the "playlist" and pick any of about 14-16 current shows. Mine is "Butchie Boys Doo *** Diner" and the "Cotton Sturdy Blues hour".  My bio is on the site-  on the left column in the "DJ's @ the Rock-it" section.

On another subj. man...  I was told my '49 Merc ( Pearl & Maroon two-tone ) is finally in R&C...  in "Readers Rides" ( ? )  Submitted pics almost 2 yrs ago!  Anyhow...  dont have mt newest edition and cant figure how to locate the pics here online! Can you help me out?  My email is: ephone6@mindspring.com

PS- CRAZY man!  Meant to convey the music style of 50's R&B Group vocal harmony groups like the "Flamingos" or the "Skyliners" et al...  the style also affectionately known in the 50's as Doo- ( sounds like whop! )...  but on account'a spineless politically correct editing-gone-weenie machine I cant spell the second syllable correctly!! Or maybe they're afraid of Tony Soprano!!??

How could anyone not know what Barry Manilow sounds like? You used to hear the guy on radio ads whether you wanted to, or not.

Yikes! From now on, it's "Doo-Whop"?! I don't know wether to laugh or cry over that one...
As for Barry Manilow, I too was surprised to discover the way he's worshipped among the tuner crowd. My nephew took me out cruising in his Dipshitzu and when I asked about all the Manilow CDs, he just gave that "You're too old to understand" look. That night, every parking lot had Manilows music blaring (complete with booming bass) and same deal with other tuners that pulled up beside us at stoplights. Weird, huh?
