Nobody wants a small-block Chevy because they're so popular.

Nostalgia, nostalgia, nostalgia, they are one of the prettiest engines around when fully dressed out, but when it costs you as high as $20K to build a dependable one from new parts it's strictly an ego thing, not a practical route.  This is the 3rd. resurgence of the flathead I've seen since the 60's ,each one going a little more extreme so around 2016 or 17 we should see it again.

They do look pretty cool, because nothing else quite looks like a flathead. And I agree with Tim, the small block chevy come about a dime a dozen.
