Well this traveling billboard was spotted during the Woodward dreamcruise by the guys at Jalopnik, it is the fin of a '57 Bel Air. Does Chevy have something up it's sleeve with a return of the Bel Air, or is it just a 50th anniversary of the '57 Bel Air? What do you guys think?

Do you think the retro styled Mustangs and Camaros were just the only flash in the pan? Talked to one of the exhibition car carriers lately that was carrying a HHR panel truck and V6 Corvette that looked like a '53 built on the Pontiac Solace platform. I'm thinking a new Bel Air for 08 with the side trim and fins??

Retro is good! We'd not have the PT Cruiser without it. However, I think the HHR is a sad copy of the true style found in the Cruiser; with copycat dimensions in all directions, engine size, etc etc etc. Couldn't they copy a true classic Chevy icon instead of a virtually forgotten shape? I hope Chevy doesn't think they can turn the Solstice into a 53 Vette, considering how ridiculously tall looking the body of the Solstice is; and to be even worse they would make it look as authentic as that '55Chevy' with the turbo 5 cylinder-looked like a throat lozenge, not a fitting tribute to one of the finest designs ever. I say make the C7 lose about 600 pounds and let the guys who designed that retro 53 kit for the C5 pen the new one, stone guards and all. Shrink the small block 25% and create an all-new 265 Fuelie. Stretch that architecture and create a Waldorf 2009 Nomad! Free advice,GM

Somehow I think you're missing something here. The HHR takes some of it's design from the 49-54 Suburban, not the PT, so the transformation to a 2 dr. Panel truck for use as a delivery van is a natural and if they build a Vete on the Solace platform you can bet it will be an entirely new body. They take those concept cars to car shows, state fairs, etc., around the country to guage consumer interest, and if the interest is high enough it can go into production.
