I pulled the sm blk chevy from my hot rod this past year, I would prefer to have a vintage car owner acquire this engine. I placed it in a 51 chevy back in 64'. I have had it stored now for over 40 years. I checked with GM regarding the EID#, that is ok, but the wrecking yard I bought it from sold me a 56' corvette engine. How can I tell after this long if I got screwed. Not that it made a difference. Pics available.

As long as the block hasn't been decked there should be some letters and nunbers stamped (not cast) into a pad right in front of the passenger side head. There should be two letters that will tell you what the engine was in originally.
