The article mentioned a part that will bolt to the original Mopar starter plate to mount a T-5 to a Hemi block. Do you know who manufactures such a part? It is pictured in the article. I could use it. Thanks, otherwise an excellent article.

I'm getting ready to do this swap on my '38 Ford pickup that currently has a '68 307 Chevy and Chevy/GMC pickup 3 speed. I bought a T5 out of an '87 S10 that had the small V6. I've got the 3 speed out of the truck and changed out the clutch disc to one that takes the T5 splines. With the 3 speed and the T5 sitting side by side, it's easy to see the difference in pilot shaft length. I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to made a 1/2" thick spacer between bellhousing and trans instead of shortening the input shaft. Do T5's in V8 Camaros and S10's with the big V6 use a shorter input shaft, or does the bellhousing on those applications compensate for the longer input shaft? I've got the pilot bushing driven in as deep as it will go. My bellhousing is from a '76 Chevy pickup with 3 speed trans, which takes the 168 tooth flywheel. Haven't cut anything yet or tried to bolt it together. Would like to hear from somebody who has a T5 mated to older small block Chevy up and running.

i mess around with alot of camaro irocs and I had a 5 speed go bad in one and went hunting for a new trans. I was told at the junk yard that the v8 t5 has a shorter input shaft than the v6. Also if you can you want to get the world class t5 it's much stronger and it came in 89 and later camaros with a v8

The S-10 had the longer input shaft and coarse splines but the shifter is farther forward, the camaro has a fine spline input and is shorter. Look at the discussions on the Inliners page for T-5 fixes and swapping the tailshafts to move the shifter. www.inliners.org .
