Not sure where to add. It is great to see the young blood in this sport.Man we need it.
I'm 55+, been playing with old iron for 40+ years.
Current toy is a 64 Chevy Impala. Still need to do the interior, some motor work (current power 283)but other than that she was good enough to be voted into a 07 calander   . Miss Febuary.

Brent - 59 - and into just about anything with a motor. Planes, trains, boats and cars. Hell, I even like a fast tractor! There's been too many cars over the years to mention, but currently I'm working on a '41 Pontiac coupe, mild custom, for my 17 year old daughter. I'm storing my son's '33 Dodge pick-up that was featured in the May '05 issue of Custom Classic Trucks. There's my '55 Ford Ranch Wagon that I might get to, soon. And a '37 Oldsmobile sedan sitting in the shed that need brakes. Other than that, not much going on around here.

I'm Tom from Ohio. My avatar is my first car. It's a 39 Ford Deluxe lowered a little with a 1955 Chevy 265 and an Offy adapter to the '39 gearbox. The picture was taken in summer of 1964.

I am presently working on a '69 C10 step side and It should be on the road next spring. Then I'll be getting to work on my 1959 Corvette that I bought in 1969.

If only I had more time.

Group.

Mike from SoCal-56-married two kids, (one of each)retired. I like cars, boats, planes... anything simple, shiny and loud. Saw my first rods at the old Colton strip in 'bout '51, (but have no memory of this). One day soon a blown Flathead A-V8 will roll out of my now crammed with other stuff garage. Glad to be here, seems like a much needed site.

Hey guys. You might recognize me from one or two other hot rod boards.

I work on construction equipment for a living adn build hot rods to keep me out of the bars.

I have a little two car garage behind the house and build a car every year or two. Nothing ground breaking, just plain old hot rods.

Oh...and every single one of them has a PONTIAC motor.

lemme try some pics..

Cruiser, log in then click on "my account" at the top. If you've already got an Avatar on the HAMB you can use it, just right click on it and click properties, then save it and paste it in the box provided, if it's too big, the guys here have set it up to automatically resize it for you. It's pretty self explanitory, if I can do it anyone can.

I'm "a54studebaker" on the HAMB, I thought it would give me incentive to get the stude done, ha ha, that was a joke, well anyway I've got the T-bird to cruise in.

Abone, I recognize your stude from the HAMB, excellent work, didn't know you had a Henry, nice car !!

good to see someone posting here, come on R&C guys, if you want feedback let us know you're reading this stuff

Take care, Richard Miller

I joined a while back but only browsed the boards a little here and there.
I'm in Southern Colorado, a town called Pueblo. Kind of a small town but there are quite a few people into cars here.
I remember my dad taking us to car shows all the time. My favorite shows were the Concour De Elegance shows that were held at The Broadmoor. I always wanted one of them cars, but quickly realized they were out of my price range!

The three cars that I've built and owned weren't well received around here because they didn't fit the mold of what is popular. But who cares, I had fun with them anyway. My car in high school was a '69 El Camino. The price was right. After buyign it I slightly lowered it, shaved the door handles, frenched the antenna and put Moon discs on it. People didn't like it because I didn't give it a "muscle car" look. But I thought shaving the door handles cleaned the lines up and made it look smoother. And the selection of rims at the time didn't have anything that caught my eye.

The next one was a '74 Datsun,It was what I could afford at the time and at the time parts were cheap and easy to find. This one I radically chopped, smoothed and lowered it. Again people didn't like it because it was a little truck, not an American hot rod. Who cares, I had fun in it and did a lot of the work myself. Friends did the chop and the upholstery and the 1rst paint job. Drove it to Cali. and back for a truck show and didn't see another one like it the whole trip. It ended up getting totalled and I drove a normal car for a long time. Accidents will mess with your head. And that one still messes with mine.

Got a deal on another little truck that I helped build when I was doing mine, a '76 Datsun king cab. The owner started it but never did much too it other than when we lowered it, made a walk-thru bed (turn around from the drivers seat and get directly into the bed of the truck), windowless shell and moon discs. We put the truck in primer and he never figured out a color to paint it so it was left in primer. Again, people didn't like it because it was primer and not an American hot rod like theirs. But I still had fun hauling parts and drove the *** out of it.

Just sold my 1937 Ford pickup that I was trying to get on the road. The truck had the chop started in the late 70's, but they got as far as cutting the top off , removing some metal, tacking it back together and that was it. Then it sat in a field until I got it. They fiber-glassed the firewall smooth at one point but by the time I got it the fiber-glass was falling off.

I ended up selling the truck because it's taking me a long time to get things done on the truck for a few reasons. First and foremost is that I've got an intestinal condition that makes it hard to find and keep a job. And in Pueblo, good jobs are hard to come by anyway if you don't know people. So doing merchandising and mystery shopping, because they usually allow me to set my own schedule, is how I try and make ends meet. Besides that I make a little money buying things wholesale and re-selling them. Not a lot of money doing that, but every bit helps.
Secondly, progress was slow on the truck because of my wreck. Mentally, I find it hard to work on the truck sometimes because it just seems like a waste of time and money when it can all be gone in a second like the chopped truck.

And thirdly, when I do get working on it it was slow again because I don't have a lot of spare money to spend on it because of my employment situation. So after awhile I just decided to sell it and look for a driver.
Sorry for the long read, but that's my introduction.
